Mieke Defieuw

Mieke Defieuw (°1960) has been a lecturer at the Bachelor Social Educational Care Work program at AP University College in Antwerp since 1998. In 1978 she obtained her master’s degree in psychological and pedagogical sciences, specialising in Social Educational Care Work at the Catholic University of Leuven. She worked as an educator and as a social and educational care worker in various contexts: within residential youth care, in home support from child and youth psychiatry, in the support of socially vulnerable families and families with a migration background. From 2002 to 2004 she also followed a postgraduate course in ‘International and intercultural management’ at CIMIC Mechelen.

As a lecturer she is mainly active in the following areas: youth aid, poverty, migration and diversity.
Since 2006 she has been part of the Diversity and Inclusion Centre within the Bachelor Social Educational Care Work. She also supervises internships and is responsible for the option Intercultural Work.
